Message:. I believe that the Public Comment period on the Climate Change section of the General Plan needs to be
extended for two reasons. The first is that the County Greenhouse Gas Inventory,which has been anticipated to be
available for the past month or two is now projected to be available by November 1. This data would be helpful in
understanding and commenting on the appropriate targets of our efforts to reduce GHG.Second,the recently
unanimously passed Climate Emergency Resolution by County Council shifts the momentum toward transformative
engagement by the General Plan.The current Climate Change section of the draft is more incremental and technocratic
and woefully lacking for courage and determination to address the problem at the scale reflected in the Council
Resolution. I will lobby the County Council to defer ratification of the General Plan until the Climate Change section
reflects the intention of the Council in their Emergency Resolution.
