The Planning Commission held public hearings on January 20, 1972
and February 10, 1972 on the application of HENRY KIKUDA for a use
permit as prescribed by Section 37, Ordinance No. 63 of the Revised
Ordinances of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended, to a]bw the
construction of an additional dwelling unit in addition to an existing
dwelling in lieu of a minimum 4 -unit multiple dwelling requirement as
regulated by the resort -hotel zoned district. Location of the proposed
construction is makai of Alii Drive, Kahului2nd, North Kona, Hawaii,
Tax Map Key 7-5-21:35.
The Commission voted to grant a use permit inasmuch as legislation
is being proposed which would permit single-family, double -family, and
multiple -family dwelling units within resort -hotel zoned districts. The
County Council directive to investigate the possibility of permitting
these uses was considered by the Commission and the Commission is on
record as recommending that these uses be permitted.
Therefore, the Commission hereby grants to the applicant a use
permit to allow the construction of an additional dwelling unit pursuant
to the authority vested in it by Section 36 of said Ordinance on the
condition that all other applicable regulations be complied with.
The effective date of this permit shall be from February 10, 1972.
