The County Planning Commission, at a duly held public hearing on November
16, 1972, considered the application of MAUNA KEA BEACH HOTEL CORPORATION for a
use permit in accordance of Section 37, Ordinance No. 63 of the Revised Ordi-
nance of the County of Hawaii 1967, as amended. More specifically, the re-
quest was to allow the expansion of the MAUNA KEA BEACH HOTEL's tennis & luau
facilities, portions of which are located within the "Open" zoned district in
Ouli, Waimea, S. Kohala, Hawaii, Tax Map Key 6-2-02:portion 4.
The Commission has found that the proposed uses would be compatible with
surrounding uses. The general area is presently in recreational and resort -
oriented uses and the proposed use would expand these facilities while still
maintaining the basic intent of the "Open" district.
Therefore, the Commission hereby grants to the applicant a use permit to
allow the expansion of the MAUNA KEA BEACH HOTEL's tennis and luau facilities
within an "Open" zoned district, pursuant to the authority vested in it by
Section 37 of said Ordinance, subject to the condition that all new facilities
be removed when construction is started on the second increment of the PUD
granted to the Corporation or upon termination of the partial approval of the
PUD.
The effective date of this permit shall be from November 16, 1972.
