This is a COVID-19 informational update for Monday, July 20.
On today’s update of COVID-19, the number of active cases, monitored by the
Department of Health, for Hawaii Island is ten with one new case identified as travel
related. Of this, one is hospitalized. An active case is defined as an individual who has
tested positive for the Coronavirus and is presently monitored by the Department of
Health.
For your information, public testing is available today in North Kona at the Keauhou
Shopping Center. Hours are from 9:00 this morning ‘til noon. Thank you Ali`i Health
Center for providing this service and the Hawaii National Guard and County Task Force
for helping. As a precaution to ensure the safety of the Kona Community testing for
Kona Community Hospital staff and contractors will also be done today. Testing began
at 5:30 this morning and will continue through the day. Thank you Premier Medical
Group, the National Guard and County Task Force for providing this service.
The majority of states continue to see an increase of people being infected by the
Coronavirus. As the number of active cases on Hawaii Island continues to increase it
becomes more important that we follow the preventive measures of face coverings,
distancing, gatherings, and cleanliness. You should also stay at home if you do not feel
well to help keep your neighbors, friends and family safe. As a reminder, wearing of
face coverings is mandatory on Hawaii Island.
Thank you for listening, have a safe day.
