CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY Date: September 19, 2020 <br />MEDIA UPDATE <br />Incident: Coronavirus Update <br />This is a Civil Defense message. <br />Uri IT -3 : II _u <br />Radio Frequency: Every Hour <br />Update #: 1 <br />This is a COVID-19 informational update for Saturday, September 19tH <br />On today's update of COVID-19, the number of new active cases, on Hawaii Island, <br />reported and monitored by the Department of Health is nine (9). At this date, for Hawaii <br />Island, sixteen (16) are hospitalized. The Hilo Medical Center reports a total of nineteen <br />(19) deaths. Eighteen of the deaths are from the Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home. Our <br />thoughts and prayers go out to the Families of these Veterans. <br />To support efforts at the Veterans Home, a fifteen person team from the Veterans <br />Administration is at the facility to assist the staff and to support operations. Additional <br />staff is expected to arrive today. A grateful thank you to the Federal and State <br />Governments for their assistance to address the issues at the Veterans Home. <br />For your information, a Coronavirus drive -up test site is scheduled for today in Hilo at <br />the Afook-Chinen Auditorium parking lot. Please enter the site through the Kuawa St. <br />entrance. Hours are from 9:00 in the morning `til 1:00 in the afternoon. Do know that <br />the consistent number of new cases reported reflects the aggressive testing program <br />that the County and private partners are conducting. Remember the purpose of testing <br />is to identify positive cases as early as possible and in this way help stop the spread of <br />the virus. <br />This is all our kuleana to make Hawaii Safe. Only together, can we stop the spread of <br />the virus to keep our family, friends, and neighbors safe. <br />The next update will be issued by noon today. <br />Thank you for listening and be well. <br />This is your Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency. <br />
