NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
KAILUA VILLAGE DESIGN COMMISSION
COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a meeting to be held by the Kailua Village Design
Commission of the County of Hawai‘i in accordance with the provision of Section 92-7,
Hawai‘i Revised Statutes.
Based on the Mayor' s Proclamation regarding COVID- 19, these meetings will be online
until further notice. This is to prevent the spread of COVID- 19 and to maintain social
distancing.
DATE: November 24, 2020
TIME: 5:15 PM
PLACE: Live Stream Meeting- The public will be able to view and listen to the
meeting. Access to the online meeting will be provided at
www.planning.hawaiicounty.gov at the time of the meeting.
STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC—Public participation will be limited to only
written testimony via email at planning@hawaiicounty.gov or submitted at the Hilo
or Kona Planning Departments no later than 4:30 p.m. on November 20, 2020 by
mail or no later than 4:30 p.m. on November 17, 2020 by email (See Submitting
Testimony below).

available no later than November 12, 2020. This information can also be requested

1. The applicant, Dale Sweeney, Architect, is requesting design review for the revisions
to the proposed Henry Street Hotel that was previously reviewed by the KVDC on
February 11, 2020, for proposed revisions by another architect for the project. The
proposed project was originally reviewed by the KVDC on September 19, 2017. The
new revisions include a changes to the building configuration to allow better vehicle
access; improve pedestrian and handicap access; improve the dormer roof design
elements; move the HVAC system and eliminate the chimney-like fixtures on the

Submitting Testimony: Due to the current requirement for online meetings for the Kailua
Village Design Commission due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Planning Department is
requesting the following: That a person desiring to submit written testimony shall
indicate her/his name; address; and whether the testimony is on her/his behalf or as a
representative of an organization or individual. If testimony is being submitted on behalf
of an organization, documentation showing membership ratification should accompany
the testimony. Public testimony can be submitted by mail or email. Those submitting
written testimony by mail should provide eleven ( 11) copies for distribution. Public
testimony submitted by mail, should be mailed to the Kailua Village Design Commission
at the Planning Department office addresses in Hilo and Kona listed below. Mailed
testimony should be received no later than November 17, 2020, to allow for mailing and
thorough Commission review. Public testimony that is submitted by email to
planning@hawaiicounty.gov, should be submitted no later than 4: 30 p.m. on November
20, 2020.
Notice: If you are a lobbyist, you must register with the Hawai‘i County Clerk within
five days of becoming a lobbyist {Article 15, Section 2-91.3 (b), Hawai‘i County Code}.
A lobbyist means “any individual engaged for pay or other consideration who spends
more than five hours in any month or $275 in any six-month period for the purpose of
attempting to influence legislative or administrative action by communicating or urging
others to communicate with public officials.” {Article 15, Section 2-91.3 (a) (6), Hawai‘i
County Code.}
Copies of the applications are on file and open to inspection during office hours at the
Planning Department, Aupuni Center, 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 3, Hilo, Hawai` i and at
the Kona office of the Planning Department, West Hawai`i Civic Center, 74- 5044 Ane
Keohokalole Highway, Building E, 2nd Floor, Kailua-Kona, Hawai` i.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service, other reasonable modification, or
language interpretation to access this meeting please contact the Planning Department at
961-8288 as soon as possible, but no later than five working days prior to the meeting
date, to arrange for accommodations. “Other reasonable modification” refers to
communication methods or devices for people with disabilities who are mentally and/or
physically challenged.
