HomeMy WebLinkAboutCertificate of Results - Hawaii County - 2020 Charter Amendments - Updated -Crop THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY CLERK COUNTY OF HAWAII In the Matter of Proposed Amendments to the CERTIFICATE OF RESULTS Hawaii County Charter CERTIFICATE OF RESULTS In compliance with section I1-156, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, 1, Jon Henricks, County Clerk, County of Hawaii, in the capacity of the chief election officer of the County pursuant to section 3-6(b)(3) of the Hawaii County Charter, do hereby certify that sixteen proposed amendments to the Hawaii County Charter were submitted to the voters of the County of Hawaii on November 3, 2020. 1 hereby further certify that fourteen of the sixteen proposed amendments were duty approved by a majority of voters voting on said amendments: Proposal RELATING TO TECHNICAL, LINGUISTIC, AND GRAMMATICAL REVISIONS OF THE CHARTER: Shall the Charter of the County of Hawaii be amended by making various technical, linguistic, and grammatical revisions throughout the Charter? Voters voting "YES" 57,606 Voters voting "NO" 18,497 Proposal RELATING TO COUNCIL MEETING LOCATIONS: Shall the Charter of the County of Hawaii be amended to require that the Hawaii County Council hold an equal number of its regularly scheduled meetings in East Hawaii and West Hawaii? Voters voting "YES" 68,392 Voters voting "NO" 11,349 Proposal RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT: Shall the Charter of the County of Hawaii be amended by clarifying the Department of Research and Development's powers, duties, and functions?
