NEW BUSINESS
Correspondence 21-04: Susan Olsen expressed concerns about her request for
records from the Police Department and how the Police Department and State
agencies handled her son's mental health issues.
CHAIR'S REPORT ON MATTERS OF INTEREST TO THE COMMISSION
(CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC)
EXECUTIVE SESSION
The commission will meet in executive session to consider charges against officers or
employees of the police department where matters affecting privacy will be involved, to
consider sensitive matters relating to public safety, and may consult with Corporation
Counsel on questions and issues pertaining to the commission's powers, duties, privileges,
immunities, and liabilities pursuant to HRS 92-5 (a) (2) (4) (6) and the Hawaii County
Charter Section 13-20 (b).
CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINTS (Briefly summarized.)
• Complaint HPC 21-13: Complainant was arrested for disorderly conduct. He
complained of his treatment during his arrest.
• Complaint HPC 21-14: Complainant was arrested for disorderly conduct. He
complained of his treatment during his arrest.
• Complaint HPC 21-15: Complainant was arrested for disorderly conduct. He
complained of his treatment during his arrest.
• Complaint HPC 21-16: Complainant was arrested for disorderly conduct. He
complained of his treatment during his arrest.
• Complaint HPC 21-18: Complainant alleged that during a traffic stop, an officer ranted
and raved at the top of his lungs, and was very angry at her.
• Complaint HPC 21-19: Complainant alleged that an officer harassed him and a friend
in the parking lot of a local bar.
• Review of complaint in the non-acceptance category.
