6i. I am writing to encourage DEM to conduct the Life Cycle Analysis project when funding
permits. These analyses are vital to understand if the decisions we are making in regard to
solid waste management and the items we recycle are the best decisions in regard to
carbon footprint. It was also a top priority identified by the SWAC committee.
6iii. I am writing to encourage the EMC to continue meetings virtually because it allows for
better engagement with the public and lowers our collective carbon footprint. I will not be
able to participate personally without taking off work; if the meetings go back to in person. I
have been participating in these meetings for the last couple years and summarize
highlights each month for the Zero Waste Hawai'i Island newsletter
This allows the work the EMC is doing to reach a larger audience.
