DISABILITY IS NOT OBVIOUS AND/OR THE REASON
THE ANIMAL IS NEEDED IS NOT CLEAR:
Is the animal required because of a disability?
What work or task has teh animal been trained to perform?
SERVICE ANIMAL is cared for by the owner.
SERVICE ANIMAL must behave in an acceptable way; cannot be
disruptive; and must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of
others.
A BUSINESS OR EMPLOYER can ask you to remove the SERVICE
ANIMAL if it is not under control or if an individual refuse to answer the
two questions above if their disability is not obvious.
SERVICE ANIMAL must be under the control of the owner, using a
harness, leash, tether or voice control.
SERVICE ANIMAL must be potty trained. Others are not responsible for
the care or cleanup of the animal.
An employer may request documentation to verify the disability (if not
obvious) and what essential functions the SERVICE ANIMAL is trained
to help the employee perform.
A disabled individual with a SERVICE ANIMAL cannot be denied
access to public and private transportation and forced to sit in a particular
spot or charged additional fees.
