ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COMMISSION FACT SHEET*
PURPOSE: To advise the department on waste reduction strategies, recycling, litter control,
community involvement, and other issues related to the functions of the department, and exercise any
other powers related to the functions of the department delegated by ordinance.
AUTHORITY: -10.5.
APPOINTMENT: -year staggered terms.
FULL MEMBERSHIP:
SPECIFICREPRESENTATION: One member from each council district.
MEETINGS:
FINANCIAL DISCLOSURES: Members must file financial disclosures within 20 working days of
taking office. Thereafter, annual disclosures must be filed on or before January 31. The disclosures are
-91.1.
REAPPOINTMENT:Following the expiration of a term, no member may be reappointed for at least
two years except for one- and two-year “termers.”
QUALITIES: Respected by the community as being community-minded and oriented. Able to focus on
the community needs as a whole without catering to a special interest or self-interest.
CURRENT MEMBERS:
May serve no more than 90 days past the expiration of their terms, or until a successor is confirmed,
whichever is sooner.
