Pursuant to Section 3-17 (e) of the Hawaii County Charter, the commission shall hold at least one public hearing in each of the nine council districts. October 11, 2021 (Monday) 6:00 p.m. at the Council Chamber, Hilo, 25 Aupum Street,Room 1401, 96720 (Council District 2) October 14, 2021 (Thursday) 6:00 p.m. at the Honoka`a Sports Complex and Skate Park(Gymnasium), Honoka`a,45-541 Lehua Street, 96727 Note:All current federal, state and local guidelines, rules andproclamations to ensure public safety in addressing the COVID-19pandemic will be adhered to at thepublic hearing sites. This may include limiting the amount of individuals accessing the indoor location. If the site has reached limited capacity,you may be asked to remain outdoors until we are able to allow access at the appropriate time. Submitting Oral Testimony: All persons seeking to express their views on the above matter may do so orally at the hearings and must register with the Commission by emailing redistrictingcommissionghawaiicoun ov or calling 808-961-8020. The registration period will end at 4:30 p.m. on the business day before the date of the public hearing. Oral testimony at the hearing will be limited for a length of time determined at the discretion of the Chairperson,but not less than three (3)minutes. Written Testimony: The Commission encourages the public to submit thoughts,comments, and input via written testimony. To ensure timely delivery to Commission Members prior to the hearing,written testimony must be submitted before 12 noon, on the business day prior to the hearing by: (1)email to redistrictingcommissionghawaiicoun ov,2)facsimile to (808)961-8673, or(3)mail to Redistricting Commission, Office of the County Clerk,25 Aupum Street, Suite 1402, Hilo,Hawaii 96720. All written testimony,regardless of time of receipt,will be made public and part of the permanent record. Videoconferencing The Commission intends to and will attempt to make videoconferencing available for these hearings via the Zoom platform.
