REDISTRICTING COMMISSION
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS
Pursuant to Section 3-17 (e)of the Hawaii County Charter,the Hawaii County Redistricting Commission
shall hold at least one public hearing in each of the nine council districts prior to completing a draft of the
redistricting plan.
The Commission welcomes thoughts and testimony from the public at these hearings to help inform a
redistricting plan that will establish the geographic boundaries of the County Council districts,which will
be in place for the next ten years.
Pursuant to Sections 92-7 and 92-41, Hawaii Revised Statutes,notice is hereby given that public hearings
will be held by the Commission during and at the following dates,time and locations:
October 18, 2021 (Monday) 6:00 p.m. at Hilo Municipal Golf Course Multi-Purpose
Room, 340 Haihai Street, Hilo, 96720(Council District 3)
October 21, 2021 (Thursday) 6:00 p.m. at Pdhoa District Park Community Center,
15-3022 Kauhale Street,Pdhoa, 96778 (Council District 4)
October 25, 2021 (Monday) 6:00 p.m. at Kea`au Community Center, 16-186 Pili
Mua Street,Kea`au, 96749 (Council District 5)
October 28, 2021 (Thursday) 6:00 p.m. at Rodney Yano Memorial Hall, 82-6145
Mamalahoa Highway, Captain Cook, 96704 (Council District 6)
November 1, 2021 (Monday) 6:00 p.m. at Hale Hdldwai, 75-5760 Alii Drive,

Public hearings in Council Districts 1 and 2 were scheduled and publicly noticed separately.
Note:All current federal, state and local guidelines, rules andproclamations to ensure public safety in
addressing the COVID-19pandemic will be adhered to at thepublic hearing sites. This may include limiting
the amount of individuals accessing the indoor location. If the site has reached limited capacity,you may be
asked to remain outdoors until we are able to allow access at the appropriate time.

Submitting Oral Testimony: Persons seeking to express their views may do so orally at the hearings. So that
the Commission may be aware of expected capacities as much as possible,individuals who plan to testify in-
person are asked to register by emailing redistrictingcommissionghawaiicounty.gov or calling 808-961-8020.
Oral testimony at the hearing will be limited for a length of time determined at the discretion of the
Chairperson,but not less than three (3)minutes.
Written Testimony:
Written testimony may be submitted by: (1)email to redistrictingcommissionghawaiicounty.gov,2)facsimile
to (808) 961-8673,or(3)mail to Redistricting Commission,Office of the County Clerk,25 Aupuni Street,
Suite 1402,Hilo, Hawaii 96720. All written testimony,regardless of time of receipt,will be made public and
part of the permanent record.
Videoconferencing
The Commission intends to and will attempt to make participation and/or viewing via videoconferencing
available for these hearings through the Zoom platform. To inquire on availability or to register for access to
the hearings on Zoom, contact the Commission at redistrictingcommissionghawaiicoun ov or 808-961-
8020.
If for technical or other unanticipated circumstances the video connection cannot be made and/or is
disrupted,the scheduled public hearing will continue.
If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability,please call
808-961-8020 as soon as possible,preferably by two business days prior to the schedule hearing you are
requesting assistance for. If a contact for this accommodation is made within two days of the hearing,we
will attempt to obtain the auxiliary aid/service or accommodation,but we cannot guarantee that the request
will be fulfilled.
