<br />October 27, 2021 <br />Environmental Management Commission <br />Agenda item 6-b(i): Draft amendment to Rule No. 9-17 of the Rules of Practice and Procedure of <br />the Department of Environmental Management <br />9-17. Vehicles are limited to sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, or mini vans. \[Trailers and dump\] <br />Dump bed trucks are prohibited at the transfer station. Trailers are prohibited at the transfer <br />station, except as provided below: <br />(a) The director will reviewsite designs, safety reports,and SWD recommendations, and, <br />having determined that a transfer station allows the safe maneuvering of a trailer that has <br />a maximum dimension of 6 feet by 9 feet, with the written concurrence of the mayor and <br />corporation counsel, may authorize the transfer station to accept vehicles with trailers one <br />day a week at a designated chute. The director may suspend thisauthorization at any <br />time. <br />(b) All trailers shall have a current County of Hawai‘i vehicle registration and safety <br />inspection, proof of which shall be made available upon request by SWD personnel. <br />Transfer station users shall follow all other rules for solid waste disposal and all <br />directions from SWD personnel. <br />(c) Transfer station users shall avoid reversing their trailers toward the chutes. <br />(d) The director will notify the public through electronic media and the department website <br />of schedule changes regarding trailers at transfer stations. <br />
