UNFINISHED BUSINESS a.Continuation of Contested Case Hearing from January 7, 2022: Kai Ala Partners LLC appeal of the Director’s decision to bill two wastewater accounts for TMK (3) 7-5-019:018 and (3) 7-5-019:026. ANNOUNCEMENT: This contested case hearing is to be continued to a special meeting TBD in consultation with the availability of the Commissioners and the parties. b. Election of EMC Chair and Vice Chair for 2022 b. Discussion regarding emergency closure notifications for transfer station operations: Why doesn’t DEM use the County’s emergency contact system to inform citizens of the closures of waste management facilities (e.g. greenwaste), especially when they are closed at the last minute due to equipment failures or employee absence? Why aren’t relevant DEM websites and HawaiiZeroWaste updated with current information and day-to-day changes regarding access to solid waste facilities? (Gaffney) 7. ANNOUNCEMENTS The next meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. on February 16, 2022, and will be conducted remotely. If the Governor’s emergency proclamation of December 29, 2021, which suspended the public meeting location requirement, is rescinded, the public meeting location will be at the West Hawai‘i Civic Center, Building G. Please contact the Department of Environmental Management or see the next agenda for updates. 10. ADJOURNMENT Note:A meeting held by interactive conference technology shall be automatically recessed for up to 30minutes to restore communication when audiovisual communication cannot be maintained with all members participating in the meeting. The meeting may reconvene when either audiovisual communication is restored, or audio-only communication is established after an unsuccessful attempt to restore audiovisual communication. If it is not possible to reconvene the meeting as provided in this subsection within 30 minutes after an interruption to communication, the meeting will be in recess andwill attempt toreconvene at 1:00p.m. on the same day, using the same meeting ID listed on Page 1 of this agenda. Ifat that timea quorum of remote membersareunable to establish and maintain at least an audio-only connectionby 1:15 p.m., then the meeting shall be automatically terminated.
