Aaron Ling Johanson, Chair, and
Members of the House Committee on Consumer Protection and Commerce,
Chair Johanson and Committee Members,
The County of Hawaii Department of Environmental Management supports HB 1413, HDI, to
address the problem of abandoned vehicles in all counties.
While this measure primarily impacts the operations of the Finance Department, to which we
will defer, abandoned vehicles are a visual blight on our landscape, degrade our island
environment, and burden taxpayers with the cost of disposal. DEM supports the intent of this bill
to ensure that the scofflaws who abandon these vehicles are responsible for its proper disposal.
Sincerely,
2daokepa-M es
