SOLUTION NO. 21-9 21
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE DANIEL R.
SAYRE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION TO PURCHASE WATER HOSE
ATTACHMENTS FOR THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization committed to providing essential equipment to the Hawaii Fire Department to help
save lives; and
WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation has raised over ten million
dollars in donations to enhance the Hawaii Fire Department, which is vital to its rescue and fire-
fighting operations; and
WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation is requesting funds-to purchase
water hose attachments for the Hawaii Fire Department's fire vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii recognizes the efforts of the Daniel R. Sayre
Memorial Foundation to raise funds for the Hawaii Fire Department, and is grateful for the
generous donations that have made a tremendous impact on the safety and quality of life for
Hawaii Island residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department mission is to provide exceptional, all hazards
emergency services to the residents and visitors of Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire
Department to provide a grant to the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation to purchase water
hose attachments for the Hawaii Fire Department.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of
this resolution to the Fire Chief and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms ofthis resolution.
