RESOLUTION NO. 258 21
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AUTISM
SOCIETY OF HAWAII FOR THE 13TH ANNUAL SURFERS HEALING HAWAII
EVENT AT RICHARDSON OCEAN PARK.
WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawaii is a 50 1(c)(3)nonprofit organization that
serves individuals and families touched by autism, also known as autism spectrum disorder; and
WHEREAS, the Surfers Healing Hawaii event is a free, day-long surf camp for children
with autism and other disabilities, and their families,that offers a natural and therapeutic
experience utilizing the weightlessness and rhythm of the ocean; and
WHEREAS, the 13'h Annual Surfers Healing Hawaii event will be held on December 4,
2021, at Richardson Ocean Park and is made possible through partnerships with Surfers Healing
Hawaii Island Chapter,the Department ofParks and Recreation, The Autism Society of
Hawaii, Double Good, and countless surfers and volunteers; and
WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawaii is requesting hands to assist with various
expenses to host the 13'h Annual Surfers Healing Hawaii event, such as refreshments,trophies,
and medals; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide
array of services and programs that meet the needs ofthe Hawaii Island community and is
supportive ofthis initiative to provide recreational opportunities to those with disabilities; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to The Autism Society of Hawaii for the 13th Annual
Surfers Healing Hawaii event at Richardson Ocean Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director ofParks and Recreation and Director ofFinance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
