ORDINANCE NO. 17 42
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 4, OF THE HAWAII
COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION,AS AMENDED),BY ADDING A NEW
SECTION RELATING TO TEMPORARY POSITIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2, Article 4, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as
amended) is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as
follows:
Section 2- . Temporary positions; notification to the council.
a) The director ofhuman resources shall notify the council about any person
employed under a contract for less than ninety days if:
1) The salary is $2,500 or more per month; and
2) The temporary position is unrelated to a state of emergency declaration.
b) A quarterly report shall be submitted and placed on the council committee
agenda designated to handle matters of finance. The report shall contain the
contractor's name,the duration of the contract,the cost of the contract, and
the service to be performed."
SECTION 2. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the
underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 3. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application
thereof to any person or circumstance, is held invalid,the invalidity does not affect other
provisions_or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid
provision or application, and to this end the provisions ofthis ordinance are severable..
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
