RESOLUTION NO. 42 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE HAWAII ISLE POLICE ACTIVITIES
LEAGUE LONG-DISTANCE CANOE REGATTA.
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Isle Police Activities League ("HI-PAL") is a community
youth program under the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, HI-PAL activities are provided and designed to help youth make healthy
and legal choices; and
WHEREAS, HI-PAL is organizing an inaugural long-distance canoe regatta in Hilo Bay
in spring 2017; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting funds to assist with expenses relating
to the long-distance canoe regatta, including, but not limited to, food, refreshments, and the
contracting of escort boats for the safety of the participants; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Police Department
to assist with expenses related to the HI-PAL long-distance canoe regatta in spring 2017.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Chief of Police and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
