RESOLUTION NO. 258 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION WITH PROVIDING PUBLIC SAFETY AT THE KWXX
HO`OLAULE`A.
WHEREAS, KWXX FM is a radio station that hosts the annual KWXX Ho`olaule`a, a
live-music block party that is free to the public; and
WHEREAS, the KWXX Ho`olaule`a is a drug-free, alcohol-free, and family-friendly
event that draws thousands of revelers from around Hawai`i Island; and
WHEREAS, the 24th annual KWXX Ho`olaule`a is scheduled for September 30, 2017,
in Hilo; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation assists with logistics for this event
and provides traffic control, informational signage, and dumpsters; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation requests funding assistance to have
special-duty police officers help with public safety, crime prevention, and traffic control at the
KWXX Ho`olaule`a; now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to assist with public safety expenses at the KWXX Ho`olaule`a.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
