A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE SUCCESS
FACTORY, INC. FOR SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY,ENGINEERING, AND MATH
EDUCATION AT THE NEXTECH 3-DAY CAMP.
WHEREAS, The Success Factory, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established
by the Hawaii STEM Learning Partnership that focuses on boosting learning in science,
technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for Hawai`i Island students and prepares them
to become the workforce for the innovation economy of the 21st century; and
WHEREAS, The Success Factory, Inc., dba NexTech, is planning an inaugural three-day
workshop at Kilauea Military Camp on October 13-15, 2017, to provide enhanced STEM
education in the fields of robotics, virtual reality technology, engineering,problem solving, and
career readiness; and
WHEREAS, The Success Factory, Inc., is requesting funding assistance to support the
curriculum of the NexTech 3-Day Camp; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports NexTech's 3-Day Camp
because it will provide an alcohol and drug-free environment for youth to explore and learn
using a variety of STEM lessons, which will promote a clean and sober lifestyle; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) ofthe Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used;now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Success Factory, Inc., for STEM education at the
NexTech 3-Day Camp.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Council hereby transfers/appropriates
the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
