RESOLUTION NO. 305 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO REIMBURSE THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS
AND RECREATION FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS PILIKULAIWI FALL
INTERSESSION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation,through its Recreation Division,
offers a variety of activities for school-age children during the fall intersession; and
WHEREAS,the Recreation Division has established a fall intersession program called
Pilikulaiwi, which is a three-day, two-night program for up to 30 youths that will be held in
October 2017 in Ka`u; and
WHEREAS,the Pilikulaiwi program will include a visit to the Keauhou Bird Conservation
Center and other sites, as well as a service project to teach about Hawai`i Island and its ecosystem
and the importance of malama honua(to care for our Earth)through hands-on work; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation requests a reimbursement for
lodging costs at Kilauea Military Camp and T-shirts for the Pilikulaiwi program partners; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks
and Recreation as a reimbursement for expenses related to its Pilikulaiwi fall intersession program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
