RESOLUTION NO. 346 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PURCHASE MICROSOFT SQL SERVER
LICENSES FOR THE OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY.
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney opens approximately 18,000 new
cases per year and manages its case load using obsolete and inefficient equipment and software;
and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney intends to upgrade its information
technology infrastructure and migrate to the new LegalEdge Software case management system;
and
WHEREAS, to ensure compatibility with the new case management system, an upgrade
to the Laserfiche document management software from Laserfiche 9 to Laserfiche 10 will be
required; and
WHEREAS, before an upgrade to Laserfiche 10 can be initiated, the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney needs to purchase new licenses to upgrade its Microsoft SQL Servers; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney requests funds to purchase the
required Microsoft SQL Server licenses for the upgrade; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to purchase Microsoft SQL Server licenses, which will allow for the
Laserfiche upgrade and the migration to the new case management system.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms ofthis
resolution.
