RESOLUTION NO. 547 i
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KEA'AU
COUGARS ATHLETIC BOOSTERS CLUB FOR THE 2018 KEA'AU HIGH SCHOOL
PROJECT GRAD NIGHT.
WHEREAS, the Kea'au Cougars Athletic Boosters Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that supports the students of Kea'au High School by assisting with the cost of the
athletics department and other programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and active community; and
WHEREAS, the Kea'au Cougars Athletic Boosters Club is collaborating with students,
parents, faculty, and staff at Kea'au High School to provide a fun and safe event for graduates
following commencement exercises; and
WHEREAS, the 2018 Kea'au High School Project Grad Night event is a drug-free and
alcohol-free event that provides graduates a safe place to celebrate their achievements among
friends on May 25, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the Kea'au Cougars Athletic Boosters Club is requesting funds to assist
with the cost of food, activity supplies, security, lifeguards, and insurance for this special event;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that provide safe,
drug-free, and alcohol-free grad night activities for the Class of 2018; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Kea'au Cougars Athletic Boosters Club for expenses
relating to the 2018 Kea'au High School Project Grad Night.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council ofthe County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
