RESOLUTION NO. SS° 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO CAMP AGPE HAWAII
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 2018 CAMP AGAPE BIG ISLAND.
WHEREAS, Camp Agape Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides
charitable services to children of the incarcerated, including camps that provide religious,
educational, and recreational programs; and
WHEREAS, Camp Agape Hawai`i is organizing the 2018 Camp Agape—Big Island, a
four-day camp offered to the children of incarcerated adults for the purpose of providing a safe
and nurturing environment, designed to empower and to create positive paths in life to grow into
healthy and happy members of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and numerous organizations,
businesses, and individuals support the efforts of Camp Agape—Big Island to encourage
resiliency in children to overcome the emotional distress of having an incarcerated parent, and
hardships caused by circumstances that led to incarceration; and
WHEREAS, Camp Agape Hawai`i is requesting funds to assist with the cost of meals,
transportation, activities, T-shirts, and other expenses associated with the 2018 Camp Agape—
Big Island, scheduled for May 25 through May 28, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports early intervention
initiatives for at-risk youths to improve the quality of life on Hawai`i Island; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Office ofthe
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Camp Agape Hawai`i to assist with expenses
associated with the 2018 Camp Agape—Big Island.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
