RESOLUTION NO. 126 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HALE KIPA, INC.,
FOR ITS KA`I LIKE PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Hale Kipa, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides
opportunities and environments that strengthen and encourage youth,their families and
communities to achieve their potential and social responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Hale Kipa, Inc.,has established the Ka`i Like Program that works with
Family Court to provide opportunities and new beginnings, and to prevent recidivism for youth
in the juvenile justice system; and
WHEREAS, Hale Kipa, Inc., is requesting funding for activities, tutoring, and supplies
to assist the at-risk youth in Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS,the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports initiatives to support
juvenile delinquency prevention and intervention; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Hale Kipa, Inc., to assist with expenses relating to its
Ka`i Like Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
