RESOLUTION NO. 354 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING
ATTORNEY WITH EXPANDING ITS SAFE DATES PROGRAM TO HAWAII
ISLAND HIGH SCHOOLS.
WHEREAS, Safe Dates is a 10-session, evidence-based program that teaches teenagers
to recognize and avoid unhealthy relationships and behaviors that are physically or emotionally
abusive; and
WHEREAS, after being tested as a four-year pilot program at Waiakea High School,
Safe Dates is being expanded to high schools around Hawai`i Island; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is requesting Contingency Relief
funds for curriculum fees, training supplies, and printing workbooks; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports crime prevention and early
intervention initiatives to improve the quality of life in Hawaii County; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to expand its Safe Dates program to high schools around Hawai`i Island.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
