RESOLUTION NO. 368 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AUTISM SOCIETY
OF HAWAII TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 11TH ANNUAL
SURFERS HEALING HAWAII EVENT.
WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
works to improve the lives ofpersons affected by autism; and
WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai`i will be assisting with the 11th Annual
Surfers Healing Hawai`i event for children with autism and their families at Richardson Ocean
Park on November 30, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Surfers Healing Hawai`i allows children with autism to go surfing on
tandem boards with experienced volunteers and is a free, fun, and supervised activity for the
family; and
WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai`i is requesting funds for surf gear, life vests,
awards, tents, food, and drinks for the 11th Annual Surfers Healing Hawai`i event; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports facilitating a wide array
of services and opportunities that meet the needs of the Big Island community while maintaining
cultural uniqueness of our rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to The Autism Society of Hawai`i to assist with expenses
relating to the 11th Annual Surfers Healing Hawai`i event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
