RESOLUTION NO. 442 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST WITH THE COST OF REPLACING
VANDALIZED POOL CHAIR LIFTS AT CHARLES "SPARKY" KAWAMOTO SWIM
STADIUM AND AT THE NAS SWIMMING POOL.
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Aquatics Section, operates the
Charles "Sparky" Kawamoto Swim Stadium and the NAS Swimming Pool in Hilo for the benefit
of the community; and
WHEREAS, recent acts of vandalism at both facilities have damaged the pool chair lifts
that help disabled or elderly persons access the swimming pools; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking assistance to replace the
damaged pool chair lifts; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is committed to providing
accessible aquatics facilities for the public; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to purchase equipment to replace damaged pool chair lifts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
