RESOLUTION NO. 455 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
UNITED WAY FOR THE PURCHASE OF MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES FOR ITS
MARKETING INITIATIVE.
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Island United Way ("HIUW") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization with a mission to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier
community; and
WHEREAS, HIUW is committed to advancing the common good of all by focusing on
community transformation in the areas of education, income, and health; and
WHEREAS, every year, HIUW partners with organizations (currently 32) that are
running up to 41 health and human service programs that reach more than 75 percent of Hawai`i
Island families and individuals; and
WHEREAS, HIUW requests funds to assist with expenses related to its marketing
initiative, to let the community know about the important work being done by our partner
agencies and the opportunities to contribute to these critical programs by raising awareness about
the mission of HIUW; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol-free and drug-free
programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island United Way to assist with expenses for
materials and supplies for its marketing initiative.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
