RESOLUTION NO. 470 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ISLAND OF
HAWAII YMCA FOR ITS FAMILY VISITATION CENTER PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Island of Hawai`i YMCA (YMCA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that supports local communities by implementing programs and activities in areas
of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility; and
WHEREAS, the YMCA's Family Visitation Center program provides a neutral and
nurturing environment that promotes the safety and well-being of family members who have
been disrupted by family violence, divorce, separation, or custody disputes; and
WHEREAS, to continue this valuable service to the community, the YMCA is
requesting funds to provide staffing for supervision and security during visitations and exchanges
for the children's safety and well-being; and
WHEREAS, the Office ofthe Prosecuting Attorney supports domestic and family
violence prevention and intervention initiatives by identifying areas of need and working
collaboratively with other criminal justice agencies and community programs; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Island of Hawai`i YMCA to assist with expenses
relating to its Family Visitation Center program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms ofthis
resolution.
