RESOLUTION NO. 628 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KUIKAHI
MEDIATION CENTER INC., TO ASSIST WITH COSTS RELATING TO ITS RAPID
RESPONSE LANDLORD-TENANT MEDIATION PROGRAM DUE TO THE COVID-19
PANDEMIC.
WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
empowers people to come together, to explore options, and to find their own best solutions for
conflict mediation; and
WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center Inc., and the West Hawai`i Mediation Center
have launched the Rapid Response Landlord-Tenant Mediation Program, which provides conflict
prevention and resolution services between commercial and residential landlords and their
tenants due to disputes arising as a result ofthe COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, Ku'ikahi Mediation Center Inc., is requesting funds to assist with direct
program cost related to the Rapid Response Landlord-Tenant Mediation program, including case
management, community outreach, and education; and
WHEREAS, the Office ofthe Prosecuting Attorney, due to the COVID-19 pandemic,
supports identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with nonprofits to address needs
ofthe community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) ofthe Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Office ofthe
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Ku'ikahi Mediation Center Inc., for costs related to its
Rapid Response Landlord-Tenant Mediation program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council ofthe County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
