SUBJECT: Requesting a discussion regarding short-term rental properties.
I am requesting approximately 90 minutes for a presentation and discussion with Mr. Stefan
Buchta regarding short-term rental properties in Hawai`i County. The scope of this discussion is
anticipated to include vacation rentals, their effects on communities, real property tax revenue,
and the real estate market.
Mr. Buchta serves on the board of directors for the Leleiwi Community Association and a
concerned citizen. He is offering to help investigate how AirBnB and other short-term rental
brokers operate in our neighborhoods.
Please place this item on the appropriate Committee agenda.
