NOTE: Pursuant to Act 220, Session Laws of Hawaii 2021, which amended the Sunshine Law to allow meetings to be remotely conducted online, effective January 1, 2022, Kailua Village Design Commission meetings will be held online, and the location listed below is open to the public to provide testimony. The Kailua Village Design Commission meeting can be viewed live online or at the location listed below. DATE: Tuesday, April 26, 2022 TIME: 5:15 p.m. INTERACTIVE CONFERENCE TECHNOLOGY (ICT): Kailua Village Design Commissioners and applicants will participate in this meeting via the Zoom interactive video conference platform. The public may provide verbal testimony at the meeting by joining the Zoom. CALL TO ORDER APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the meeting of March 22, 2022. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS NEW BUSINESS 1. PL-KVD-2022-000012: The applicant, Ken Kilkuskie, builder/consultant, for Manini Holdings, LLC, is proposing exterior improvements for two existing industrial buildings located on the north side of Pawai Place, in Kailua-Kona. The exterior improvements include installing shade structures for outdoor seating areas outside of three restaurant establishments located within the two buildings. The proposed structure(s) are prefabricated and would consist of extruded aluminum structural components with polycarbonate roof panels that are "dark grey" (tinted). The shade structure would be black anodized aluminum to match the color of the aluminum windows and door extrusions on the buildings. The exterior colors of the buildings will not be changed. ADJOURNMENT Submitting Testimony A person desiring to submit written testimony shall indicate her/his name; address; and whether the testimony is on her/his behalf or as a representative of an organization or individual. If testimony is being submitted on behalf of an organization, documentation showing membership ratification should accompany the testimony. Written testimony submitted by mail, should be mailed to the Kailua Village Design Commission at the Planning Department office addresses in Kona or Hilo listed below. Mailed testimony should be received no later than April 20, 2022. Testimony that is submitted by email to planningghawaiicounty. ov should be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on April 22, 2022. Notice to Lobbyists: If you are a lobbyist, you must register with the Hawaii County Clerk within five days of becoming a lobbyist {Article 15, Section 2-91.3(b), Hawaii County Code}. A lobbyist means "any individual engaged for pay or other consideration who spends more than five hours in any month or $275 in any six-month period for the purpose of attempting to influence legislative or administrative action by communicating or urging others to communicate with public officials." {Article 15, Section 2-91.3(a)(6), Hawaii County Code} Registration forms and expenditure report documents are available at the Office of the County Clerk, 25 Aupuni Street, Room 1402, Hilo, Hawaii 96720.
