NOTE: Pursuant to Act 220, Session Laws of Hawaii 2021, which amended the Sunshine Law to allow meetings to be remotely conducted online, effective January 1, 2022, Kailua Village Design Commission meetings will be held online, and the location listed below is open to the public to provide testimony. The Kailua Village Design Commission meeting can be viewed live online or at the location listed below. Minutes of the meeting will be posted on the County of Hawaii website. DATE: Tuesday, June 21, 2022 TIME: 5:15 p.m. INTERACTIVE CONFERENCE TECHNOLOGY (ICT): Kailua Village Design Commissioners and applicants will participate in this meeting via the Zoom interactive video conference platform. The public may provide verbal testimony at the meeting by joining the Zoom or at the physical location listed below. CALL TO ORDER APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the meeting of April 26, 2022. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS NEW BUSINESS 1. PL-KVD-2022-000014: The applicant, Mr. Richard Vierra of RTV Designs, Ltd., is requesting a sign variance for two signs to be located at the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union on Hualalai Road in Kailua-Kona. The two signs include: 1) a replacement of a ground sign at the driveway entrance measuring 9 feet 6 inches by 3 feet 9 inches (35.62 square feet) with maximum letter height of 7-5/8 inches and logo height of 2 feet, and 2) a wall sign over the building entrance that measures 11 feet 2 inches by 2 feet 4 inches with maximum letter height of 9 inches and logo height of 2 feet 4 inches. The color of the logo is a teal green, letters a warm dark gray, and background an off-white. The ground sign would be atop an existing lava rock wall with landscaping. ADJOURNMENT Submitting Testimony A person desiring to submit written testimony shall indicate her/his name; address; and whether the testimony is on her/his behalf or as a representative of an organization or individual. If testimony is being submitted on behalf of an organization, documentation showing membership ratification should accompany the testimony. Written testimony submitted by mail, should be mailed to the Kailua Village Design Commission at the Planning Department office addresses in Kona or Hilo listed below. Mailed testimony should be received no later than June 15, 2022. Testimony that is submitted by email to planningghawaiicounty. ov should be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on June 17, 2022. Notice to Lobbyists: If you are a lobbyist, you must register with the Hawaii County Clerk within five days of becoming a lobbyist {Article 15, Section 2-91.3(b), Hawaii County Code}. A lobbyist means "any individual engaged for pay or other consideration who spends more than five hours in any month or $275 in any six-month period for the purpose of attempting to influence legislative or administrative action by communicating or urging others to communicate with public officials." {Article 15, Section 2-91.3(a)(6), Hawaii County Code} Registration forms and expenditure report documents are available at the Office of the County Clerk, 25 Aupuni Street, Room 1402, Hilo, Hawaii 96720.
