Commissioners,
As I am sure most of you are aware, the EPA is creating a new Recycling
Infrastructure Grant Program. This funding is coming from the Bipartisan
Infrastructure Law that Congress recently passed; it will provide $55 million of funding
per year across the country for 5 fiscal years.
The EPA is still developing this grant program, and has put out a Request for
Information (see link below for more details) to design a program that best meets
applicants' needs. The Request For Proposals will come out in the fall.
In order to complete the RFI, the Department of Environmental Management and
Zero Waste Hawai'i Island have developed a survey to gather information from
diverse stakeholders in Hawai’i County to understand the barriers to reuse and
recycling and how grant funding could help. We also hope to identify parties
interested in partnering with the County to apply for the infrastructure grants.
If you could please fill out this survey from the perspective of the district you serve we
would greatly appreciate it.
