AGENDA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a meeting to be held by the Kailua Village Design
Commission of the County of Hawaii in accordance with the provision of Section 92-7,
Hawaii Revised Statutes.
NOTE: Pursuant to Act 220, Session Laws of Hawaii 2021,which amended the Sunshine Law
to allow meetings to be remotely conducted online, effective January 1, 2022, Kailua Village
Design Commission meetings will be held online, and the location listed below is also open to
the public to provide testimony. The Kailua Village Design Commission meeting can be viewed
live online or at the location listed below. Minutes of the meeting will be posted on the County
of Hawaii website.

Kailua Village Design Commissioners and applicants will participate in this meeting via the

NEW BUSINESS
1. PL-KVD-2022-000018: The applicant, Walua Partners LLC, is requesting design review of
proposed 18 residential/vacation units in two 2-story buildings and three 1-story buildings at
75-5885 Walua Road. The exterior colors include a combination of gray and tan, and use of
metal roofing, stucco walls with horizontal bevel siding, entry porch, and windows with vinyl
trim. Off-street parking,pool, office with storage, and landscaping are included.

2. PL-KVD-2022-000020: The applicant, Kerry Ringrose, sign fabricator for Pacific Sign&
Design, is requesting design review of a sign permit. The proposed wall sign is for the new
tenant space for The Mind's Eye Interiors, located at the Hale Hana Center at 74-5583 Luhia
Street, Kailua Kona. The proposed wall sign measure 18 inches tall by approximately 30 feet
wide, or 45 square feet, and the maximum logo and letter height would be 18 inches. The
sign material would be composed of 1/8-inch-thick acrylic face applied with translucent
vinyl, with 3/4-inch white trim cap and would be LED illuminated. No changes to the
exterior colors of the building proposed.

Submitting Testimony A person desiring to submit written testimony shall indicate
her/his name; address; and whether the testimony is on her/his behalf or as a representative of an
organization or individual. If testimony is being submitted on behalf of an organization,
documentation showing membership ratification should accompany the testimony. Written
testimony should be submitted to the Kailua Village Design Commission by email at
planning@hawaiicouniy.gov or by mail or in person at the Planning Department office addresses
in Kona or Hilo listed below under Board Packet, and should be received by 4:30 p.m. two
business days prior to the Commission meeting.
Notice to Lobbyists: If you are a lobbyist, you must register with the Hawaii County
Clerk within five days of becoming a lobbyist {Article 15, Section 2-91.3(b), Hawaii County
Code}. A lobbyist means "any individual engaged for pay or other consideration who spends
more than five hours in any month or$275 in any six-month period for the purpose of attempting
to influence legislative or administrative action by communicating or urging others to
communicate with public officials." {Article 15, Section 2-91.3(a)(6), Hawaii County Code}
Registration forms and expenditure report documents are available at the Office of the County
Clerk, 25 Aupuni Street, Room 1402, Hilo, Hawaii 96720.

961-8288 as soon as possible, but no later than five working days prior to the meeting date, to
