APPROVAL OF MINUTES • July 22, 2022, regular and executive sessions POLICE CHIEF'S REPORT ON DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES Including, but not limited to: • Crime Report • Traffic Report • Personnel Report • Finance • Commendations • Other Department Activities CORRESPONDENCE • Correspondence No. 22-06: Response from Police Chief Paul Ferreira regarding the Police Department's protocols, procedures, and training on how personnel deal with those suspected of suffering from mental health issues. Hawaii Police Commission Meeting Agenda August 26, 2022 Page 2 NEW BUSINESS • Police Chief recruitment EXECUTIVE SESSION (CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC) The commission will meet in executive session to consider charges against the officers or employees of the police department, where matters affecting privacy will be involved; to consider sensitive matters related to public safety, and may consult with the board's attorney on questions and issues pertaining to the commission's powers, duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities pursuant to HRS 92-5 (a) (2) (4) (6) and the Hawaii County Charter Section 13-20 (b). CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINTS (Briefly summarized) • HPC 22-36: Complainant alleges that an officer failed to file her report. • HPC 22-37: Complainant alleges that an officer disregarded federally issued identifying documents and issued her a citation under a defunct identifying document. • HPC 21-51: Complainant alleges that an officer was angry and rude towards her when responding to a domestic dispute. (continued) • HPC 22-38: Complainant is dissatisfied with the officer's response. Her minor child was allegedly left in a volatile and dangerous situation. • HPC 22-39: Complainant alleges that her custodial rights of her child were infringed upon and her home was entered by police without permission.
