CALL TO ORDER – Clyde Silva, Committee Vice-Chair called the meeting to order at 10:10 a.m. 2. INTRODUCTIONS Committee Members Present: Clyde Silva, Judy Bell, Marsha Okajima, Lisa McNamarra, Chalintorn Burian, Jacqueline Honda, Laenette Longakit Committee Member(s) Excused: Patricia Nye, Michelle Johnson, Pauline Spencer, Enola Kaneta Corporation Counsel: J Yoshimoto State Policy Advisory Board for Elderly Affairs (PABEA): Shelly Ogata HCOA Staff: Horace Farr, Jolean Yamada, Luana Ancheta-Kauwe 3. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – Clyde Silva, Committee Vice Chair None. 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE APRIL 29, 2022 MEETING Clyde Silva, Committee Vice-Chair motion to approve the Minutes of the meeting. Motion to accept the minutes by Laenette Longakit, and seconded by Jacqueline Honda. Unanimously approved. COMMENTS FROM THE COMMITTEE VICE CHAIR – Clyde Silva, Committee Vice-Chair thanked the committee for allowing him to lead the meeting in the absence of the Committee Chair, Patricia Nye. 6. EXECUTIVE ON AGING REPORT AND UPDATES – Horace Farr – Area Plan Surveys Handouts: Breakdown results of the “Aging in Hawaii and Caregiver Surveys” completed surveys from 5/25/2022 to 6/15/2022 and 5/25/2022 to 6/22/2023. The committee received two handouts: (1) Needs Assessment Survey: Aging in Hawaii; and (2) Needs Assessment Survey: Hawaii’s Caregivers. The committee had the opportunity to complete the surveys and Hawaii County Office of Aging (HCOA) sent the completed surveys to Deborah Wills, Planner II at the Kona office. 7. STATE POLICY ADVISORY BOARD FOR ELDERLY AFFAIRS (PABEA) – Shelly Ogata – Update on PABEA Shelly reported they elected a new board chair for PABEA, Roberta Wong- Murray from West Hawai`i; impending closure of the Wahiawa General Hospital Nursing and Rehab Center on July 22, 2022, has clients scrambling to find placement on O`ahu. 9. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Horace Farr announcement that Hawaii is a vote by mail. If you have any questions, contact Elections at 808-961-8277 (Hilo) or 808-323-4400 (Kona). Horace advised to check your voter district card, as some districts have changed due to reappointment. 10. SCHEDULING OF NEXT MEETING: Tentative, Friday, August 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. 11.
