CALL TO ORDER – Clyde Silva, Committee Vice Chair called the meeting to order at 10:10 a.m. 2. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – Clyde Silva None. 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 25, 2022 MEETING – Clyde Silva, Committee Vice Chair motion to approve the Minutes of the last meeting. Motion to accept the minutes by Judy Bell, and seconded by Lisa McNamarra. Unanimously approved. 5. COMMENTS FROM THE VICE CHAIR – Clyde Silva None. 6. EXECUTIVE ON AGING REPORT AND UPDATES – Horace Farr 1. Introduced staff: Meredith Catalini, Aging and Disability Services Manager and Jolean Yamada, Case Management. 2. Area Plan – Thanked those who had a part in the focus group on the Area Plan. Mentioned in the next meeting that the Planners give an update on the how the focus meeting went and the overall State codes and develop the objectives. 3. Completed the budget process. 4. Legislative Bills – Kupuna Care bills. 5. Ombudsman Programs: After many years, it looks like five (5) positions may go through. Hawai’i County - Two positions: One for East Hawai’i and one for West Hawai’i. 7. STATE POLICY ADVISORY BOARD FOR ELDERLY AFFAIRS (PABEA) – Shelly Ogata April 01, 2022 PABEA Meeting, Review/Update: Developed priority list, expand on workforce development and affordable housing for kupuna. Shelly Ogata introduced Chalintorn Burian, AARP/COA member. (Handout) to report on AARP Advocacy Update – April 21, 2021 - Legislative bills alive in Conference Committee; especially SB3289 - Relating to Hawaii Retirement Savings. Establishes the Hawaii retirement savings program, administered by the Hawaii retirement savings board, with oversight by Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. COMMITTEE ON AGING MEETING MINUTES April 29, 2022 Page 3 Other Bills Passed by Both Chambers: (1) SB 3113 - Relating to Kupuna Care and Kupuna Caregivers Program; and, (2) HB 1824/SB 2676 – Ombudsman Positions – 5 positions included in Governor’s Administration Budget. Bills - Dead – Hearings Aids and Healthy Aging Partnership. 8. HAWAII ELECTRIC LIGHT COMPANY, INC. COMMUNITY UPDATES AND ENERGY CONSERVATION Presented by: David Kurohara and Graceson Ghen - (Handouts): (1) Community Update, Hawai’i Island (April 2022) – David Kurohara (2) Your Home’s Energy Use – Graceson Ghen (3) Other handouts provided: (1) Power to Save; (2) Hawaiian Electric “We’re here to help.” and Helpful Resources (March 2022); (3) Energy Smart  Homes - Go Green for Free; and (4) Hawaii Energy – Don’t Miss Out! FREE LED Lighting Updates information. 9. DISTRICT REPORTS / OTHER DISCUSSIONS: None. 10. ANNOUNCEMENTS: None. 11. SCHEDULING OF NEXT MEETING: Clyde Silva, Committee Vice Chair, next Tentative meeting, Friday, June 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. 12.
