Subject:Testimony for October 12 meeting of the HCDP Action Committee

Dear friends,
I'd like to place an agenda item on the table for the November meeting: questions and
problems regarding land use. There have been a rising number of new landowners who areusing/proposing to use their properties in ways that are not in line with the HCDP or, perhaps,
even with current County ordinances. These are just a few issues that have come up:
* Air B&B's that are short term rentals* Short- term Rentals on ag land without the owner present
* Using land as Campgrounds* Taking tourists on tours using County roads and into KS-owned forests
Many of us are not sure of current or proposed ordinances. Clarification on both current and
proposed would be appreciated, and how to report violations.
We have more and more newcomers who may not know the rules, or what the HCDP says.How can we make sure that those who buy property are made aware before the sale on what
the land can and cannot be used for?
