Aloha,
I'll jump right in. Rezoning this parcel is a huge mistake. You may have all the land in the world
but if you don't have the infrastructure to support it, it's a mistake.
Traffic has gone from bad to worse in the last few years and allowing more homes makes no sense.
I've lived with this kind of traffic before and It's awful. I moved away from it and now it's creeping
back in to my daily life. It is very frustrating.
We also need a current cultural survey. We need to save archaeological sites that are significant.
When they're gone they're gone so any decision should be made with the Hawaiian people and
culture in mind. A thorough survey is due.
I'm concerned about endangered species of all kinds. I'm concerned about sewage. I'm concerned
about water and water pressure. I'm concerned about evacuation. I am concerned about so many
things.
I could go on and on. I feel like a broken record at times but what eats me up is that we bought our
home fully aware of the zoning and now people who often don't even live here want to change it. I
feel when land is zoned, it's zoned. Period.
Developers come and go. Land is bought and sold. The residents deserve a say in this and an
important say. We purchased our home knowing what the zoning was and now people want to
change it because of inheritance issues or developers wanting to capitalize on a hot market. It's
not fair to us. We are the ones who have to deal with day-to-day life here and we didnt relocate
to have it change without a really good reason. The zoning needs to remain the same. There are
many reasons and the list is long.
I strongly urge you to not rezone this parcel. Our resources are limited.
This is a bad idea.
