Aloha Director Kern and Windward planning commissioners,
Mahalo for serving the folks of East Hawaii.Your efforts are much appreciated.
We are aware of the Orchidland Neighbors well thought out plan. We enthusiastically support the
granting of this special use permit. They have community interests in the forefront of their intent.
The Puna Community Development Plan (PCDP) has numerous goals and objectives which support
elements included in this special use permit goal.
We are grateful this special use permit will allow them to provide:
- a place where folks can legally process ag products for sale to the public. What a boost to the
economics of the community.
-We love that there will be an enclosed gathering place for community. (As active Orchidland CERT
team members having an alternative meeting place to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
is reassuring as this meeting site is not always available)
-Recreation is so important for community mental and physical well being. Having an accessible site
for families/children to play is terrific.
Mahalo for supporting the efforts of Orchidland Neighbors in delivering much needed lacking services
to Puna! These are exciting times!
