HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-01-22 Planning Commission Minutes PLANNING COMMISSION COUNTY OF HAWAII MINUTES JANUARY 22, 2009 The Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:53 a.m. in the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, Hau Room, 62-100 Kaunaoa Drive, Kohala Coast, Hawaii, with Chairman Rodney Watanabe presiding. PRESENT: Rodney Watanabe ABSENT & EXCUSED: C. Kimo Alameda Lani Bowman Takashi Domingo Frederic Housel Andrew Iwashita Shelly Ogata Rell Woodward Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel Daryn Arai, Acting Planning Director Norman Hayashi, Planning Program Manager Phyllis Fujimoto, Staff Planner Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner The Chair introduced the Commissioners and staff to members of the public. REZ 709/REZ 524 The Commission took this item up at 9:53 a.m. with four people SAMSON LLC from the public in attendance. THTH HIENALOLI 4 AND 5, NORTH KONA APPLICANT: SAMSON LLC (REZ 709/REZ 524) a. Time extension to Condition C (Final Plan Approval and Completion of Construction) of Ordinance No. 06 137, which rezoned 3.224 acres of land from Unplanned (U) to Multiple-Family Residential – 2,500 square feet (RM-2.5) and 2.29 acres of land from Double-Family Residential – 3,750 square feet (RD – 3.75) to Village Commercial – 7,500 square feet (CV-7.5). b. Time extension to Condition C (Final Plan Approval and Completion of Construction) of Ordinance No. 06 138, which rezoned 45,411 square feet of land from Multiple-Family Residential – 2,000 square feet (RM-2) to Village Commercial – 7,500 square feet (CV- 7.5). The area involved is located along the north side of Hualalai Road and adjacent to the Aloha thth Kona Subdivision, Hienaloli 4 and 5, North Kona, Hawaii., TMK: 7-5-10: portion of 13. (SEE EXHIBIT A) 1 SPP 1191 The Commission took this item up at 10:10 a.m. with no one from CROWN CASTLE the public in attendance. INTERNATIONAL HONOMAKAU, NORTH KOHALA APPLICANT: CROWN CASTLE INTERNATIONAL (SPP 1191) Contested Case hearing on the amendment to Special Permit No. 1191 to allow the replacement of an existing 80-foot monopole with a 120-foot steel monopole.The request would also require the amendment of Condition 5 (height of tower). The property is located along the north side (makai) of Kynnersley Road, approximately 1.3 miles south of its intersection with Akoni Pule Highway (Highway 270), Honomakau, North Kohala, Hawaii, TMK: 5-4-2: por 2. (SEE EXHIBIT B) MINUTES The Commission took up the following minutes at this time, 1:08 p.m., with no one from the public in attendance. November 24, 2008 and December 11, 2008 – It was moved by Commissioner Iwashita and seconded by Commissioner Woodward that the minutes be approved as circulated. Motion was unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners in attendance. ADMINISTRATIVE The Commission took up the following at this time, 1:09 p.m., MATTERS with no one from the public in attendance. Status of appeals filed on Board of Appeals decisions - Corporation Counsel – Mr. Torigoe had nothing to report to the Commission. ANNOUNCEMENTS There was no announcement.
