HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-04-01 Windward Planning Commission Minutes WINDWARD PLANNING COMMISSION COUNTY OF HAWAIÒI MINUTES APRIL 1, 2010 The Windward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:08 HawaiÒi Councilroom, County Building, 25 Aupuni Street, Hilo, HawaiÒi with Chairman Rell Woodward presiding. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Rell Woodward, Dean Au, Takashi Domingo, Zendo Kern, and Wallace Ishibashi. STAFF PRESENT: Brandon Gonzalez (Deputy Corporation Counsel), BJ Leithead Todd (Planning Director), Norman Hayashi, (Planning Program Manager), Daryn Arai (Planning Program Manager), Phyllis Fujimoto (Staff Planner), Jeff Darrow (Staff Planner), and Maija Cottle (Staff Planner). The Chair introduced the staff and Windward Planning Commissione described the procedures to be followed for todayÓs meeting. The Commission took the following item up at 9:10 a.m. with 9 pe attendance: APPLICANTS: DON WATSON/DONNA WATSON (REZ 09-115) Change of Zone from a Single-Family Residential 15,000 square feet (RS-15) to a Single-Family Residential 10,000 square feet (RS-10) district for 20,393 square feet of land. The property is located at the southeastern corner of Haihai Street and Likeke Street, across from the Hilo Municipal Golf Course, Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-4-21:31. (SEE EXHIBIT A) The Commission took the following item up at 9:25 a.m. with 9 pe attendance: APPLICANT: HAWAII ISLAND ADULT CARE, INC. (USE 10-18) Use Permit to operate an adult day care center within an existin within the Single-Family Residential 10,000 square feet (RS-10) district. The property is the site of the existing Hilo Coast United Church of Christ facility located along the southwestern end of the Old Government Main Road, across from Honomu Park in Honomu Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-8-14:3. 1 Ms. Cottle oriented the Commission and public of the subject and location map and site plan, summarized the request, and noted th recommended approval of the application with conditions. (SEE EXHIBIT B) The Commission took the following item up at 10:07 a.m. with 30 attendance: APPLICANT: NEW CINGULAR WIRELESS PCS, LLC (USE 10-20) Use Permit to allow the construction of a new telecommunication existing Hilo Medical Center building situated within the Single square feet (RS-10) district. The property is the site of the existing Hilo Medical Center complex located at 1190 Waianuenue Avenue, Piihonua, South Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-3-27:2. Mr. Darrow oriented the Commission and public of the subject and location map and site plan, summarized the request, and noted th recommended approval of the application with conditions. Change of Zone from a Project District referred to as University Terrace to a Project District referred to as Wailani for approximately 171.5 acres of b. Repeal of Ordinance No. 04 144 which approved Project District (University Terrace) subject to adoption of item 5a above. The property is located along the mauka side of Komohana Street Street extension to the southwest, Ponahawai, South Hilo, Hawaii TMK: 2-3-44:19; 2-3-49:53 and 2-3-37:1. Motion was unanimously carried by Commissioners in attendance. ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS Î Mr. Gonzalez had nothing to report.
