MINUTES
FEBRUARY 26, 2010
The Leeward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:47 apuna Beach
Prince Hotel, Hau/Lehua Room, 62-100 Kaunaoa Drive, Kohala Coast
Frederic Housel presiding.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Frederic Housel, Brandi Beaudet, Lani Bowman, Geraldine
Giffin, Wayne Iokepa, Richard Nelson and Rodney Watanabe
STAFF PRESENT: Brandon Gonzalez (Deputy Corporation Counsel), Margaret Masunaga
(Deputy Planning Director), Norman Hayashi (Planning Program Manager), Phyllis Fujimoto
(Staff Planner), Jeff Darrow (Staff Planner) and Maija Cottle (Staff Planner).

The Commission took up the following item at 9:47 a.m. with appr

APPLICANT: PARKER SCHOOL (USE 05-001)
Amendment to Use Permit No. 05-001 to allow the expansion of the
14.32 acres situated within the Agricultural 1-acre (A-1a) and S
square feet (RS-7.5) zoned district. The amendment is to allow
facilities which would include the construction of a new gymnasi
middle school complex and educational use of an existing warehou
located between KapiÒolani Road and Waikoloa Stream, Waimea, South Kohala, HawaiÒi, TMK:
6-5-4:25, 26, 28 and 63.

RECONVENED The meeting reconvened at 12:20 p.m.
The Commission took up the following item at 12:20 p.m. with no
attendance:

INITIATOR: COUNTY COUNCIL (BILL NO. 125, DRAFT 3)
Amendment to Chapter 25 (Zoning Code), Article 2, Division 1, Se
Code, 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), relating to notification of surrounding property owners
and lessees of record for change of zone applications.

November 20, 2009 Î It was moved by Commissioner Watanabe and se
Iokepa that the minutes be approved as submitted. Motion was un
vote of all Commissioners in attendance.
December 9, 2009 Î It was moved by Commissioner Iokepa and secon
Watanabe that the minutes be approved as submitted. Motion was
voice vote of all Commissioners in attendance.
ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS Î There was no discussion under administrative matters.
ANNOUNCEMENTS Î Mr. Hayashi announced that a Leeward and Windward Planning

Commissions joint public meeting will be held on March 5 via video conference to review and
adopt the Leeward and Windward Planning CommissionsÓ Rules of Practice and Procedures, and

that the Leeward Planning CommissionÓs next regular meeting is s.
