HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-11-20 Leeward Planning Commission Minutes LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I MINUTES NOVEMBER 20, 2009 The Leeward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:44 a.m. in the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Hotel, Ali‘i III Room, 69-275 Waikoloa Drive, Waikoloa, Hawai‘i, with Chairman Rodney Watanabe presiding. The Commission took up the following item at 9:44 a.m. with approximately 20 people from the public in attendance. APPLICANT: PARKER SCHOOL (USE 05-001) Amendment to Use Permit No. 05-001 to allow the expansion of the Parker School complex to 14.32 acres situated within the Agricultural 1-acre (A-1a) and Single-Family Residential 7,500 square feet (RS-7.5) zoned district. The amendment is to allow the expansion of the school facilities which would include the construction of a new gymnasium, athletic fields, a new middle school complex and educational use of an existing warehouse structure. The property is located between Kapi‘olani Street and Waikoloa Stream, Waimea, South Kohala, Hawai‘i, TMK: 6-5-4:25, 26, 28 and 63. (SEE EXHIBIT A) The Commission took up the following item at 2:27 p.m. with five people from the public in attendance. INITIATOR: PLANNING DIRECTOR Amendment to Chapter 25, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) by requiring a Use Permit for telecommunication antennas and towers situated within the Residential and 1 Agricultural (RA), Family Agricultural (FA), Agricultural (A) and Intensive Agricultural (IA) zoned districts. (SEE EXHIBIT B) The Commission took up the following item at 2:48 p.m. with four people from the public in attendance. INITIATOR: COUNTY COUNCIL Amendment to Chapter 25, Article 2, Division 4, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) relating to concurrency standards for parks and recreational facilities and firefighting facilities in change of zone actions. (SEE EXHIBIT C) MINUTES – At 3:04 p.m. the Commission took up the minutes of the October 16, 2009, meeting. It was moved by Commissioner Bowman and seconded by Commissioner Iokepa that the minutes be approved as submitted. Motion was unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners in attendance. ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS – The Chair suggested that he and Commissioner Housel be on a nominating committee for the upcoming election of 2010 officers. There were no objections. ANNOUNCEMENTS – Mr. Hayashi announced that the next meeting is scheduled for th December 9, followed by a Leeward and Windward Planning Commissions joint workshop in the afternoon.
