CALL TO ORDER: Chair Farrah-Marie Gomes called the meeting to order at 9:38am. II. ROLL CALL: Present in-person: Farrah-Marie Gomes, Christina Basham, Shana Kukila, Andrew Langtry, Allen Bartolome (Special Projects Coordinator), E. Kahea Lee (arrived 9:57am) Present via Zoom: Lisa Pana, Rachelle Agrigado-Betts, Suzanna Tiapula (Corporation Counsel), Pomai Bartolome (Executive Assistant, Mayor's Office), Jennifer Stotter (Hawaii State CSW liaison). Excused: Hannah Pita-Preston, Elena Cabatu. Guests: Emelia Martinez, Cindy Serrano-Roberts (CSW Status of Mother Report Advisor) Quorum met. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES for November 16, 2022: Rachelle motioned to approve minutes for November 16, 2022; Shana seconded. DISCUSSION: In Legislative & Advocacy section: Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Summit, section iii word correction to reflect "in person". Also, please make edits to correct and reflect the hyphen in Rachelle's last name to read Rachelle Agrigado-Betts. Motion to approve minutes as amended by Rachelle; second by Shana. All approved, motion passed. IV. TREASURER'S REPORT: A. Approval of Treasurer's Report: Andrew reported that the budget reflects all line item amounts as of November as there are no outstanding expenditures. To date, $5,500 has been approved and is pending charges, while $4,500 remains in the current FY budget. The committee is encouraged to submit project rationale(s)for this amount by the next meeting to ensure proper turnaround time for approval. There is one negative line item amount that the committee may need to reallocate and readjust to bring current. Per Andrew, the Treasurer's Report contains notes to better explain line items W13, W15, W25. Shana motioned to approve the Treasurer's Report, E. Kahea seconded. All approved, motion passed. Action Item: Allen to assist with requesting from Kayla the December financial report for shareout at January's Meeting. V. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC: None VI. CORRESPONDENCE: Farrah acknowledged an email from Suzanna re: by-laws and a discussion about the by-laws will be placed on January agenda. Committee is asked to please review the by-laws before next months meeting. Action Item: Farrah to include approval of by-laws on January agenda. Statements from the Public: None B. Hawaii State CSW (HSCSW) liaison report: Jennifer Stotter provided an update: a. Focus area 1: MMNHWG Task Force Campaign Report-Part 1, citing the overwhelming amount of concerning data collected by the task force. Part 2 is currently in the works with a deeper dive into data analysis. Khara from the Hawaii State CSW is planning to share the results of the report across the islands in early 2023. Jennifer can set up a visit for the committee. b. Focus area 2: Reproductive Rights and the concerns about accessibility to appropriate care, inclusive of costs and other reasons, for neighbor islanders. c. Next HSCSW meeting in January 2023. d. Getting to know Jennifer: She is currently the Title IX Coordinator at UH Hilo. Her special interest projects involve Women at Work, Impact of Intersectionality, Gender Equity, Equality Advancer, and changing the systems that yield injustices. C. Family Violence Interagency Committee (FVIC): Allen shared an update: a. January focus: Stalking / Intimate Partner Violence Social Media campaign AND Human Trafficking Awareness. Allen will get back to the committee regarding Call to Action Day, stay tuned. b. Working with Ho`ola Na Pua for sign waving events across the island More information is forthcoming. c. Legislative Initiative Survey & Domestic Violence Look Back Theory for repeat offenders. Suzanna shared the Look Back Theory is currently in action to hold people accountable & protect women. D. Missing Murdered Native Hawaiian Women and Girls (MMNHWG) Task Force: Farrah provided additional update that the Legislature mandated this task force to share its report and findings before the next Legislative session begins. Farrah took a moment to congratulate Christina Basham for the Purple Ribbon Award that she was recognized with in October. This award is presented to an individual for going above and beyond in helping those who have been impacted by domestic violence. She was presented with a beautiful Christina lei. Sub-Committee Memberships a. Nomination and Election of Sub-Committee members Farrah shared that before the January meeting, committee members will receive a short description of committee kuleana. For now, everyone is encouraged to stay engaged in your committees. Action Item: Farrah to circulate current committee compositions. D. Communications Sub-Committee reports a. Status of Chair and Secretary email accounts i. Approval of gmail account: Shana will write up a proposal for the email account to include purpose, expectations, and accessibility restrictions & procedures by next meeting. b. Facebook updates: Shana continues to update the Facebook page with current and recent committee happenings. Check it out! c. Family Services Directory i. Distribution log: November 2022: 100 directories were distributed to UniServe & Hawaii County DOE by Kahea, December 2022: 200 were distributed to St. Michael's Church by Christina. Committee will revisit plans for reprinting or creating a combo year directory. A. Outreach Sub-Committee reports a. 2022 Year of the Mother i. Status of the Mother Report (review preliminary report): Shana shared parts of the preliminary report (cover, title page, and data page) and will share the full preliminary report with the committee via Allen by this Friday, December 23, 2022. It is best viewed digitally. Also, the second luncheon celebrating the Year of the Mother is being held today (December 21, 2022) in Kona. Mahalo to all who were involved in the preparations and able to attend. ii. Cindy provided an update and gratitude for linking arms with Shana and team on this project. She was encouraged to jump on board and is excited as to how the report encompasses and captures more than what was originally planned. There is lots of data and graphic &visual representation of the wahine of Hawaii Island. Special note about Cindy: United Nations DE&I Gender Equity proponent, Global Freedom Group, supporter& advisor for CSW Status of the Mother Report. b. Teen Dating Violence i. Distribution log for cell phone safety cards: Shana logged her distribution and Cindy put it on her website. c. Real Women Essay: More to come next month. d. Community Surveys (approval of online version/QR code for sharing): Shana shared a QR code linking users to the CSW survey for Hawaii Island residents used to collect data that matters to the women of our community. Motion to approve and utilize the QR code/Survey Monkey link by Rachelle; Andrew seconded. All approved, motion passed. Research Sub-Committee reports a. Status of Women Report: Status of the Mother Report is being used in place of this report for 2022. b. Equal Pay: Committee will reconvene to move on the Equal Pay campaign coming up in April. C. Legislative &Advocacy a. Human Trafficking: i. E. Kahea had an event with DOE / HSTA totaling 20 who attended in person and 52 via Zoom islandwide. She will team up with Ho`ola Na Pua for upcoming events. CSW donated one banner to Ho`ola Na Pua. ii. Ka`u reached out regarding an event for their school. Committee will be informed of the date(s). iii. Farrah shared a link to the DHS website with resources available for print and to order for distribution to organizations. htt� .//wwwodhs. ov/topics/human-trafficking iv. QUESTION / DISCUSSION: Were the "I am worthy" cards printed? How can we get the cards with hotline numbers distributed? Once a call is made to the hotline, services & resources are rolled out. X. ADJOURNMENT a. Meeting was electronically interrupted on Zoom and immediately ended at 11:22am. b. Next meeting: Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 9:30am via Zoom 4
