A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HU O`OLIMALUO
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ITS 12TH ANNUAL WAIULI
OCEAN FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, Hui Ho`oleimaluo is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that provides
opportunities for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) skill
building, place-based learning, and community engagement through the maintenance and
management of coastal ecosystems; and
WHEREAS, Hui Ho`oleimaluo's Waiuli Ocean Festival is a free community event
dedicated to fostering ocean literacy, outdoor recreation and sportsmanship, Hawaiian cultural
heritage and place-based education and stewardship; and
WHEREAS, Hui Ho`oleimaluo is requesting funds to rent and/or purchase supplies and
equipment for the 12th Annual Waiuli Ocean Festival, which will be held on December 17, 2022;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide
variety of services to meet the needs of the community while maintaining the cultural uniqueness
of our rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hui Ho`oleimaluo to assist with expenses associated
with its 12th Annual Waiuli Ocean Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
